Electricity and Water
Taiwan uses an electric current of 110 volts. Tap water is drinkable, but drinking un-boiled
water is not recommended. Most hotels provide boiled drinking water and bottled water.
Taiwan's unit of currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). The exchange rate
is approximately NT$31.33 to US$1 (August, 2010).

Passport & Visa Information
Visitors to Taiwan require a passport valid for at least six months
after their scheduled departure. Citizens of 31 countries are not
required to obtain visas for a 30-day duration of stay (please visit the

the list must obtain a valid visa for entry to Taiwan. For more details on

Air Travel

Taiwan High Speed Rail(THSR)
The newly completed modern Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) provides a fast, safe, and comfortable method of traveling along the west coast of Taiwan. It is a bullet train that covers the 350km route on the West Coast from Taipei to Kaohsiung (Zuoying) in 90-120 minutes. The National Palace Museum (國立故宮博物院)
The National Palace Museum is widely ranked among the top four museums of the world. Yangmingshan National Park & Hot Springs (陽明山國家公園 & 溫泉)
Yangmingshan National Park is the only park in Taiwan that has volcanic geography and hot springs. The park is designed in a traditional Chinese style. The Beitou hot springs region is the most popular area of Taipei in the winter. A hot spring is a luxurious haven in which one can relax and bask in the beautiful scenery of mountain pastures and maple trees.

Chiufen village (九份)
Chiufen village is on the side of a mountain and faces the sea. The village was once the gold city of Asia and was called little Shanghai or little Hong Kong. Now, there are many unique teahouses in Chiufen. These teahouses are the best attractions during a visit to this mountain village. At the top of one of the mountain peaks, accessible by stairs, there is the beautiful ocean view. Several movies were shot here and the movies won international acclaim.

Cuisine
Shihlin Night Market is one of the largest night markets in Taipei. Take a leisurely walk through Shilin night market (士林夜市) and experience local cuisine, such as stinky tofu (臭豆腐), oyster omelet (蚵仔煎) or Shihlin sausage (士林香腸). Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area (合歡山森林遊樂區)
